I am looking at buying a new Epson 1400 printer. Some stores have it listed as a Epson 1400 and others the r1400. Is there a difference, or are they the same thing?

Not an "R" printer. Uses the same Claria™ Hi-Definition Ink as the R-series, though, at a somewhat lower price per cartridge (comparing the 1400 with the R280 ink cartridges). Amazon and Office Depot have the 1400 new at $200, BTW. If you can live with a refurb, Epson store has them for $179. Both are tempting offers.
Sorry if mentioning stores/prices is bad form/prohibited. I'm still a newbie here. I'm not affiliated with Epson, Office Depot, or Amazon, so I have nothing to gain from promoting these companies. |

Well to just clarify some things. The 13x19 printers, the 1400, (the discontinued 1800), 1900 and the 2400 at one point were all R series. For some reason the 1400 no longer has the R in front but I just ran a search in Yahoo using the R1400 and of course it came up with the Epson 1400.
Same printer, same high quality and using the same high quality inks. If you can grab it for the price that was menitoned its a steel. If you can find one of the R1800's for anything less then 200 and change grab it as well. There all great quality printers. IMHO, and I will state that I am also just a Photographer. No relation to or work for in any capacity to the Epson name or stores that sell it. If I had room and the extra monies, I would buy it. At present I dont and am running two good and low cost HP Printers. One I got on sale at Staples and the other was gotten from a friend who gave it to me for a steel when my old trusty Canon Photo printer died. __________________
