Some of you may know that I am taking the NYIP Complete Course in Professional Photography. I have a picture I took that I am thinking of submitting for the "open shade" assignment. I think some may argue that shot does not fit the assignment.....I'm not sure.....the jury's still out! I think it is an environmental portrait. If I could shoot it again. I would have shot it from a lower angle. That being said I think it also works for an editorial or photojournalism type shot.
This shot was taken at a Civil War Re-enactment. I was going for a sepia processing and print. I don't know that this processing is true to the era, but I seem to like it. Now for the advice part. Which lab would you get this printed from? Which paper type would you ask for or use? I am going to have it printed 8x10. I know that certain papers are better for certain images, but I still can't wrap my head around them. Does anyone have a website where I might educate myself on papers and such? Feel free to comment on the photograph. I thought of posting it in the people section for critique and comment, but regardless I am going to have it printed. If for anything, my own experience or education if you will. Thanks again Camels! ![]() __________________

I would try to not let the paper be too big of a factor and do some small test prints with different image files at my usual printshop, on their usual paper. Then adapt my print file for the big print. At the same place.

Thanks for the reply. I was just trying to get some advice on different papers. I know some are meant to enhance a certain image (ie. black & white). I'll try printing on some different mediums to see if I notice any difference. Thanks.
