Default The final Print from Epson/HP or Canon????

I am trying to decide between A Canon printer and a HP. Typically at this stage between the HP4850 and the Pixma ip5200, both on offer as end of line products.

I am used to the Epson waterproofness of their glossy and semi-gloss papers from their dye printers. This was the feature that made me choose Epson in the first instance.

The HP media seems to suffer from a lack of protection, some reviewers say they spray their prints, well, that’s just nonsense for me, I have an Epson 4000 which I’ve received the same advice for, well, it might work for some people, it’s just nuts as far as I’m concerned.

The HP also seems to suffer from blue spotting and a lock of tonal graduation, particularly in blue and the blue itself seems to be more vivid.

However, the reviewers really seem to like the HP and I am considering the HP DJ130 but not immediately.

I’d like some comments on the media, gloss seems to be Canon’s speciality on it’s ChromeLife inks and they seem to be extremely fast, but if you are familiar with the finish on the Epson Premium paper in both matte & gloss, both of which can be put under water within minutes and they will not react.

In essence had the Canon or HP anything like this?
