Default What is correct driver for Epson R800 and Leopard

I have just purchased a new iMac (Intel CPU) and am running Leopard - 10.5.2. What is the correct printer driver I should be using for my Epson R800? I am confused by the range of options on the Epson website. I am using CS3 as well.

Tiger has support built-in for the Epson R800 according to an Apple site I visited just today. I was working on getting my R800 to work on a LinkSys print server but no joy, no luck.

Works fine connected locally, just will not work for the Mac on the print server. But XP Pro has no problems using it on the print server BUT the printer utility, that lets me see the ink levels would not work.

Oh well. I'm going to have to re-arrange my work area so the R800 can be directly connectd to the Mac.

Here is what needs to be done:
Heres how i got my R800 working hope this helps you.
1. Connect printer using USB.
2. Run Mac OSX installer from CD or disk image.
3. Restart.
4. Run “disk Utility and repair permissions.
5. Download and install the following current OSX software from the Epson website: “Driver” and “Epson EasyPrintModule”. Install each in turn and Run “Disk Utility” and repair permissions after each install. Re start the Mac.
6. Run “Printer Setup Utility” and delete current R800 printer added by the CD install.
7. Click on “Add” and “More Printers” in the “Epson USB” section select the R800. Note that the Format pull down menu does not work. THIS IS NOT DOCUMENTED BY EPSON BUT IS CORRECT WHEN USING the “Epson EasyPrintModule”.
8. All Epson’s instructions say that you need to add “R800(Manual)” driver to the printer list. THIS IS INCORRECT. THERE IS ONLY ONE DRIVER NOW.
9. To print on CDs, in “Page set up” select the R800 printer and the paper size of A4 which will give a sub menu of options, the last being “Manual feed”.
10. If this does not happen, unplug the USB cable and connect the printer to the Mac using a Firewire cable and using “Printer Setup Utility” click on “Add” and “More Printers” in the “Epson Firewire” section select the R800(FW). Note that the Format pull down menu does not work. THIS IS NOT DOCUMENTED BY EPSON BUT IS CORRECT WHEN USING the “Epson EasyPrintModule”.
11. To print on CDs via Firewire, in “Page set up” select the R800(FW) printer and the paper size of A4 which will give a sub menu of options, the last being “Manual feed”.
12. If 11 now works, disconnect the Firewire cable and connect a USB cable. Re do items 6-9 to re add a working USB printer.
13. If these sub menus do not appear, load a CD in the CD holder tray and insert the tray as per Epson’s instruction. Then try 11 & 12 again.

I hope this saves someone else time and frustration

Apparently Apple is taking lessons from Microsoft...circa 1995.

Default Re: What is correct driver for Epson R800 and Leopard and TRENDnet wireless

I have an Intel MacBook Pro running 10.5.4 and can print fine to the Epson R800 when connected via USB. However, when I try to print using my TRENDnet wireless print server, using the gutenprint v5.1.3 driver from Epson, the color is faded.

Anyone out there that can help me?
Thanks
