I'm impressed with the work I see displayed here.
Which printers are you reproducing your work on? I'm assuming home printers. __________________

Right now I'm using whcc.com, but I would like to eventually pick up an epson 2400 to make things easier when I just want to print out one image rather than a whole order.
And i hear the b/w output from that printer is outstanding. |

I use a pro lab as well. The print on a Fuji frontier uo to 400 x 300mm - which I use most of the time. They also print on epson and HP inkjets on various papers.

I use Epson Stylus Photo 2100 (in USA it is 2200). It has been a workhorse about 2 years now - never any failure! It is cheaper to use pro lab and I have given this opportinity to my clients aswell... those, who want cheaper prints, can order the ones made in pro lab. To those pictures I don´t do any corrections (like removing leashes or handlers etc), but there is a group of people who like to order cheaper prints and it actually has increased my sales. I am not 100% happy with the results but it has become better than it was a earlier. Also very big prints (50x75 cm) I need to let them do because Epson can only print A3+ .

I have an Epson R800 which I find is great for most of my prints.* I do a lot of photograph restoration work.* I'm looking to add an Epson 4800.* It probably won't pay for itself the first year, but I love the thought of being able to do a 17x25 or whatever with some of the macros and landscape images that I have.
Here's a link to an image that I submitted in an exhibit and took the first place award in Landscape/Architecture with.* The judge cited quality of detail among other attributes.* I give credit to the Sigma SD-10 that I use coupled with the Epson R800 and its finer dot size. http://www.pbase.com/cjmax/image/32048053 Cliff. |

I have an HP 8450. It was about $200 and so far it has been well worth the price. I am very satisfied with the results I get with it. I was surprised because I expected to have to spend much more to get the quality I get from this printer. Not only does it do color prints extremely well, but as an added bonus it also does a fine job with B&W-- rare for an inkjet.

Back in 1999, I got my prints done on a Fujix Pictrography machine ($20 for an 8 x 10), but then those guys went out of business. I spent months looking for a good printer before I found them, and I wasn't anxious to start that process again. I decided to delve further into the digital world with an Epson 1270, which made prints that looked better than the Frontiers (for about $4 for an 8 x 10). Now I have access to an Epson 7600 at work, whose output is substantially better than the 1270 and any Cibachrome I'd ever seen, all for the low cost of about $2.50 per square foot.
For smaller prints, my wife and I get 4 x 6's printed at Wal-Mart on their Fuji Frontier. At $0.19/each, it's a great price and they look pretty good, too. |

I have a Epson 2200 and have for over 2 years. I've not used a Pro Lab since I got the printer. I use almost exclusively Ilford paper with it, although I do try other stuff every now and then... canvas, water color and fine art paper. I even use the occasional home made water color paper and it does a pretty good job if I had images that worked with that kind of paper.
I print a lot of 12x18 prints with it and a ton of 8x10s. Mike |

The Epson PictureMate is good for long-lasting 4 x 6 prints that look great and are low in cost.
For larger print sizes I've just upgraded to an Epson Stylus Photo R2400.* It's supposed to be great for black-and-white printing.* No time to try it yet, though. Previously I've gotten fair results from my aging Epson Stylus Photo 820, but I have concerns about print longevity.* The R2400 should produce archival prints. Haven't used my darkroom in several years. |
