Default Canon Prixma Pro 9000 PLEASE HELP.

For the love of God and all that is good in the world. Can someone please help me? I just bought this printer last night and so far I am impressed. I do have one issue though. It says the easy-photo print pro plugin is compatible with Photoshop CS3. I have searched the net and Canon's site but can not find information on how to get it to install the plugin in CS3. When I click the installer for the plugin it finds CS2 but not CS3 ( I have both versions on my MAC). I am about to pull my hair out! I know it's probably something simple but I just can't find it. Please help me sleep tonight.

that printer is cool, i have it myself, is it like a normal plug-in cant you copy it across to the cs3 plug-ins dir? i personally don't use it, i use lightroom / ps and use the calibrated monitor profile and the pro9000 profile in the printer preferences, works a treat

thanks

I use canon ink, paper and the PR1 profile, i have always stuck to oem branded consumables and its never failed me, i got burnt once with third party paper and i had 400 prints dotted around the house drying lol, i couldn't move! plus the quality is better. I have had marginally good results with a jessups (UK) own brand lustre paper but it is no cheaper than canon

Cannonckwolf,
Thanks. I get good resluts with the Cannon Pro paper. My results with Illford have been poor. Would be interesting to see what others are using with what resluts.

I'm curious if anybody has a link as to what profile to use and when?? I've used a bunch of different prifiles with varied results, but can't seem to find any documetation on why to use which profile?

Currently I'm using SP1 or SG1 I believe, but I will check when I get home. Another issue I have is when printing from my laptop(XP) with the exact same setings as my desktop (vista) I get to different results. That just sux IMO, and I've wasted a ton of time trying to iron this out with pretty much no decent answer.

Now I just print everything from the Laptop for peace of mind

Best,
Jay

Oh dear. Not sure if this thread is good news or not. What I love about the Pro 9000 I've owned for the last year or so, is using the Easy PhotoPrint Pro plug-in to bybass all those ICC profile hassels that plaged me through every other printer I've owned. Now it looks like I shall have to try it again.

I've actually had some issues with mine, as laid out in the two threads started by TLD over on Photo-i. But it has worked OK since.

I also put some info about the install problem over at DPR in this thread.

LOL
I know what you mean! I love my printer but was determined to get the benefits of a color managed workflow and researched this for quite a while until I got it right.
I now pretty much use Lightroom for all my printing, another setup that I hear people struggle with.

I find that Canon's paper/profile combination is very confusing and there is little information to be found. I looked at alternatives and have settled on using Ilford paper (I find their smooth pearl paper to be quite beautiful) and you can download their profiles from their website. They have profiles per paper/per printer, clearly marked, with instructions. I've never looked back and am enjoying my printer even more (just wish the ink was cheaper).

Good luck

I am currently on my third attempt to learn Lightroom, and working through the Lynda.com and Kelby Training videos. The latter claims that LR(2) is much better than Photoshop for printing - I am still working out importing my files, so have no idea why that should be.

I actually teach a regular Photoshop class at Advanced level, so am not without a clue. It's just that I know PS and Bridge so well, and I hated the retrictions of earlier LR.

It is actually my renewed interest in PhotoCamel and the excellent HDR tutorial by Worm324 that has pushed me along this path, because he demonstated a trick or two I can't currently do with CS4 and/or Photomatix.

It is refreshing to find so informative and friendly a resource as this, so more power to you all.
