Default Hi-Touch (Dye-sub) printers?

Ok, I've got the DSLR, laptop, Software, Firewire & power leads etc. I'm now looking for a (Decent) Dye-Sub printer for event photography, The Kodak 1400 looks rather bulky (not so portable) and the media seems quite pricey.

On the other hand the HI-Touch 730PS? seems reasonably priced, as is the media which is available in three sizes (6x4, 7x5, & 8x6).

Has anyone had any experience with the Hi-Touch printers? and are they suitable in term of print quality and build for on site printing at events.

Thanks

Alan

I'm wondering the same thing. My 19" Canon i9100 is giving me issues and since I've discovered MPIX I don't print large much at home. I haven't found many online reviews so I'm hoping someone here has experience with one.

Once upon a time you could email Hi-Touch and they would send you samples from their printers. And they looked very nice. Seemed much better than ones from my Canon s900 for sure.

I have always wanted a 4x6-ish dye-sub after seeing and holding actual prints from one. It seemed like it was a great idea to use on for those "snapshot" types or "party" atmosphere deals. Seemed like a much easier alternative than the local drug or department store.

And hi-touch always seemed to get some great reviews and getting their supplies seemed easier at times than the other dye-subs out there. Might be changing now though. Not sure.

Any links to a good review, Mr. P? I haven't been able to find one.

I'm wondering if Hi-Touch is still around. Those reviews are several years old and those are still the newest dye-sub printers they have on their website. B&H list them, but not in stock.

If Amazon.com carries these printers there is a very good chance there are user reviews as well. No doubt biased, but reviews none the less.

I use 2-730 Printers on location all the time. I have ran at least 750 prints (5x7) through them and have never had a problem. I clean them about every 120 photos, and they travel well and work like a work horse. I highly recommend!
