I'm interested in one of these two printers and wondering if anyone is using them and their thoughts / opinions on each.
It would replace my Epson 1800... Actually I'd get rid of the R200 and go with the 1800 for proofs and one of these for prints up to 16X20 for the most part. I'd then just get a baby laser for <$200 for office work. Julio __________________

Oh yes. I purchased an Epson 3800 after studying new printers for six months. I can honestly tell you that this printer exceeds every expectation I had. Furthermore, the printer oes not limit my ability to print. The printer is an incredible bargain at its current price as it comes with about $400 U.S. of ink. The way I figure, this makes the 3800 cost only about $150 to $200 US more than the R 2400.
I bought the 3800 over the 4800 because of size and weight. Frankly, there are very few times that I have the need or the urge to print larger than 17in. X 22in. Yes, I looked at the other available pprinters, but the two you mentioned positively stick out from the crowd. Also, the available color profiles from Epson and for these printers are excellent and highly accurate. |

Tom,
How do you save the profile for when you want to print in black and white? My friend just went through all the calibration steps and then could save the profile(settings) he used. He may have not properly read the directions, I wasn't there, so just looking for some guidance. Kirk |

I went from a 2200 to a 4000 several years ago and I can't tell you how happy I am with it -- I'm sure I'd like the 4800 even better, but the 4000 is fine.
It's not only faster, but the economy of the big ink tanks is great. I don't think you can use rolls with the 3800 so if you think you want to use canvas or make big prints, lean towards the 4800. |

Tom,
You are correct, the 4000 is an excellent printer. The 3800 and the 4800, in my opinion represent primarily an ink upgrade. Also, the question asked was about these two printers and not others. Tom __________________
