Anyone familiar with this beast of a printer .....Are the cartridges any more expensive?
Is the print quality really any better ,because of the more colour cartridges... Is there a photo paper 13 X 19 ? Any help on this subject would be apreciated:Freezframe_2 ![]() __________________

Canon printers are pretty good.
The cartridges are anywhere form $10 to $12 EACH for most places. You can find them cheaper, but not likely. You could use third-party ink but lots of people claim issues with that. Canon makes their own 13x19 paper, and smaller sizes, and they are good quality. Others use paper from others manufacturers. 13x19 is a fairly common paper size. Frames for them is a different matter. Some buy an 18x24 frame (or so) and use a mat. |

wondering if he's referring to the ipf-9000...the small tanks 330ml are about 2k (12 inks) while the 700 ml are over 3k..'bout $3200...We are looking at getting the ipf-8000 so we can print our own 40x60's by year end. Can't afford the ipf-9000 right now! I do have the i9900...so far so good...use's up ink pretty fast.

This is the Pixma Pro9000, ~ US $ / € 600... (699 CDN ??) ...now, which one do you mean ?? ![]() ...and if I may add to the confusion: if you are going to sell the prints, the new pigment-ink-based (longer lasting and stronger colours) Pixma Pro9500 is about to hit the market at ~ US $ / € 850 (999 CDN ??)... ...might be worth a look... *my* €0.02 worth...Kindest regards! Sorry for confusion:Its the ..................Pixma 9000
Is this printer more costly because of the small cartridges....Use wise ??Are the skin tones , and overall colours going to be better than say a 6 or 8 Cartridge printer (compared to a Pixma 6770)Thanx in advance:Freezframe_2 |

The Pro9500 seems to be very OK for Black&White prints too, with 3 separate 'black' cartidges, 'Black', 'MediumBlack' and 'Grey'. I have read a test of the IPF5000 that uses the same ink, and that test was VERY positive about colour rendition capabilities and ink usage... ...YMMV... ...*my* €0.02 worth... Max@Home |

I love my new Canon Pixma Pro9000. I use Ilford smooth pearl paper and get
beautiful 13x19 prints. Only problem so far is I can't stop printing my favorite photos that I have on file. I got tired of wasting ink on my Epson printers by always having to clean the heads. This Canon, I have not had to run head cleaners two or three times everytime I want a print. I hear that it cleans its head automatically. Not sure how much ink this used, but can't be as much as two or three head cleanings everyday with the Epsons I've owned. |

Hi Big Kahuna,
Do you think the head cleaning on Epson's are a fault in your printer or is it common to all Epson's. Also, what you mentioned is very interesting, do you mind linking your post to another thread here. I'll post a link but if you object I'll delete it. Thanks |

Looks like it should be imminent if not already available. I did a quick scan of froogle and this seller is expecting them in within the week: Zomp Shop - Canon - 0373B016AA - Canon PIXMA Pro9500 Colour Bubble Jet Printer
Looks very nice indeed, though not cheap. I've been contemplating an A3 printer for a while and was almost ready to leap for the Epson, but I'll stick it out a bit longer and see how this one compares. |

and I've had that problem with every model that I've had. Now this is the first 13x19 printer I've bought. Even my Epson 11x14 inch printers had the same problem. I have found out that the Canon 9000 uses PM and PC and Y ink the most. Put I'v put alot of prints through it and am loving the quality. So far I have not had to clean the heads not once. (knock on wood) But most of all, I can't get over the Ilford Pearl paper. Comp USA's are all closing in the St. Louis and St. Louis area. I went to the closest three stores and bought out every box of pearl paper that they had in stock. |

Great thread
Thanks for all the info!! I'm looking at the pixma pro9000 as well. That new model (9500) seems like it is worth the extra money with the better ink and better BW capabilities. Big money though ![]() Jay |
