Well the results are in
Awesome Printer!! I really didn't expect the pictures to look this good, Honestly. The colors are amazing and BW looks great as well. It prints surprisingly fast and is not loud at all. In fact its much less noisy than my little HP 7120 or whatever it is I printed two 13" x 19" border less prints so far and the results were excellent. Detail and sharpness were a concern for me, but with proper sharpening in photoshop they came out spot on!! 4x6's pump out really quick as well and the standard quality option looks very very good. The ink cartrages still say full and I've printed about 5 8x10's, 20 4x6's, and 2 13x19's. Most of them were at the best quality as well. If anybody has any questions, please fire away and I'll do my best to answer ![]() Jay __________________

Well done Jay
. I'm still holding off a bit to see how the 9500 turns out (I see that Vincent has finished his review on i-photo: ENTER NAME.I'm mainly interested in B&W quality. Lots of printers these days are great in colour but getting a truly accurate B&W print is always a bit trickier I've found. The 9500 looks pretty good in this area, but I'm still waiting to weigh up the options. |

Well, I just wanted to give an update on the Printer. I've printed about 25 or so prints and I'm almost out of Photo Magenta Ink , and about half way out of Photo Cyan Ink.
The bad news is the printer just failed on me!! I went to print an image last night and the lights starting blinking and I got a 5110 error code. I called Canon and it's under full warranty so there sending a new refurbished printer to me free of charge. The warranty will still be valid for the remainder of time I have on my original. Totally sucks, but at least Canon is doing the right thing and I'll only be down for a few days. I hope this is just a fluke, but I think you all should be aware incase your in the market ![]() As far as the prints go, there awesome!! Very happy along those lines ![]() I'll update once I get the new printer to verify Canon's turn round time and quality control. Jay |

worm324, How's that Canon 9000 working...... I'm kinda interested in seeing if you have had anymore problems
![]() Anybody else had any experience with the 9500 yet ??Was looking at the Epson 4800 but alittle worried about gumming up the print heads on it and then there's the almost double the price thingy compared to the 9500... Anyways just wondering ? |

It's holding up great
No clogs and the ink is lasting better than I had hoped!! BW looks awesome when printed in grayscale mode at high quality, but it takes a long time to print in that mode!! about 10-15 minutes I would guess for an 11x14 inch print. Highly recommend this printer However, it is my first good printer so take that recommendation with a grain of salt Jay |

Well, you make the second person I "kinda" know that has recommended the 9000. I've always liked the quality from the epsons, but the price difference and the print head problems with the epson's have me cringing when spending 1700.00 on a 4800. I'm under the understanding that the 9500 is the same basic printer as the 9000 but it has alittle different configuration for handleing the pigment ink's versus the dye and the enhanced black pigment consideration. I haven't seen the 9500 for sale anywhere though except for at Canon's estore, at 840.00 you could get 2 for the epson's price... What do you think on the cost of ink for a 11 by 14 color print about 2.00 in ink per print or am I thinking alittle shy

I'm really not to sure to be honest. I've printed at least 30 11x14's by now and only changed 2 tanks at $11.00 a tank. Pluse 3 tanks now are about half full. Based on that fairly crude data
I would say about 2-3 dollars for an 11x14 High quality. Plus the paper. I've never seen what the Epsom can do in person, but if it costs that much more it must be better in some way or another or people would never buy it I would think Best, Jay |

This printer is still working awesome and I've gone through a few more ink tanks. Black, M, PM, PC, and Y have all been replaced.
I also wanted to add that Black and white prints come out awesome when printing in gray scale mode!! When It's in color mode they come about a bit green'ish. Something I'm sure some of you know, but I just figured it out doing some tests ![]() Best, Jay |

...question: what paper have you been using (brand, type) and did you use the paper-colour-printer-profiles supplied by the paper manufacturer, or... ?? anything else ??
...did you calibrate the printer/made your own profiles ?? ...me thinks many would be interested in knowing ![]() Kindest regards! Max@Home |

hello fellows, my first post to let you know that i have a pro 9000 and love it. it does have eight ink cartridges but, you wont have to replace several of them for a good while. they last pretty good. i bought mine through cameta camera for 469.00 and it came with two sets of ink, a 2.0 usb cord, one package of 4x6 paper (50 sheets) and one large sample package of 13X19 paper. the sample has 20 sheets of museum etch, photo rag, gloss and matte. great deal on that printer. cameta is a member of the BBB, if they wernt, i wouldnt deal with them. i was burned one time by a crappy new york camera vendor and wont deal with camera companies unless they are members of the BBB. they got the printer to me in three days from time of order and it was ordered through ebay.
ive gone through probably 400 assorted sized prints without having to clean the heads and is functioning to perfection for me. all the camera products i own are canon and have been using them since 1978. the printer is easy to setup and does a wonderful job with a multitude of different papers. it even has a wonderful little program that makes printing fast and simple. works well with direct print straight from the camera or going through my adobe cs3. i use a spyder 2 monitor calibrator which does a great job profiling the color range for my monitor. the prints from the 9000 are as close to my monitor as can be. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I'm using Canon Pro photo paper and I'm printing from Adobe photoshop CS3 in Adobe 1998 color space. Other than that I haven't done anything. I still need to experiment with paper though for sure! I've heard som good stuff, but never tried myself. When I pront I always select the correct paper type in the printer dialog, so I'm not sure if thats what you mean about paper profiles. Best, Jay |

you are printing with a Canon printer on the exact Canon paper, so yes, that is about the same ![]() If you use 3rd party paper (Ilford Galleries series is a really good one) then the printer does not 'know' that paper: in those circumstances you can download a colourprofile for your exact printer for the exact paper you are using from ILFORD Imaging, which will do about the same as choosing the right Canon paper, but a little clumsier (through the 'advanced' function/section of the Print... statement in CS3 etc) ...FWIW... *my* €0.02... All this talk of A3 printers is making me itch...
. I'm still unsure about the benefits of the 9500 compared to the 9000, but as the 9500 is around £100 more it seems like a small price to pay if it's good enough. I've heard a few tales that the 9500 can't do true borderless prints on certain papers, which puts me off a bit. The Epson 4800 is around twice the price (approx. $2000 here in the UK) so that's not under consideration. There are some good deals on the HP B9180, but it does seem to have a polarizing effect on people - either love it or hate it. I'm thinking the Canon 9500 may be the best compromise (I really want pigment ink), though if I find the HP at a killer price then I think I might bite... |

My vote goes for the 9500!! Althought the BW images on mine in grayscale mode are incredible!! Even compared to the lab IMO.
