Default Epson R2400 and RIP software

Has anyone used RIP software either from Qimage or ColorByte. I am using an Epson R2400 printer and I have read that RIP software can make a huge difference in your prints. There is a big cost difference between these two software programs, ClolorByte is $495 and Qimage is $49. I do use Epson profiles and ink, but would really like to get more out of the printer.

Thanks in advance for the help and advance.

Default Re: Epson R2400 and RIP software

I bought the 2400 the first of last year and already had the Pulse Color Elite system. I made all my profiles and life was good, I thought.

In September I bought the Colorbyte Lyte RIP. It was $495. Holy crap! I had no idea it was going to be this good. They supply you with a profile for every kind of paper you can imagine. Red River Paper is based here in Dallas. I have grown to really like their products and their pricing. Colorbyte has a profile for every paper they make.

I sold my 2400 last Christmas and upgraded to an Epson 4800. I also had to upgrade my Colorbyte. This cost $395 more, plus another $100 for the Phatte Black ink cartridge. It is no longer a Lyte version. It rocks!

Anyone need a like-new Pulse Color Elite system?
