I just opened my Epson 1800 printer and boy is it big. The only spot for it is a distance from the computer.
Is it possible to do a wireless setup so I don't have a cable stretching accross the room between printer and computer? __________________

Hi rpcrowe,
...yes, wireless is possible, you would need a Wireless Access Point, (depending on brand and/or) a Wireless Network Interface in your computer, and something like this Wireless Network Printer Server to connect the printer to the wireless network... ...hope this helps some, *my* €0.02 worth... Kindest regards! Max@Home |

The Epson rep in Knoxville would not guarantee the Epson R800 or R1800 would work on a wireless port. My Canon S530D did but not always well and not all functions worked. Ink levels could not be monitored via the wireless network.
Can you not use a super LONG usb cable? |

Maximum USB Cable Length
The max cable length MOTU recommends between a USB computer and USB interface is 5 meters (16.5 feet). Longer runs can be achieved thru the use of POWERED USB HUBS. For extremely long runs, MOTU has tested the device USB CAT5 EXTENDER referenced in the link below. This allows USB runs of up to 100 feet! http://www.nti1.com/usbc5.html |

I print wireless through an AirPort Express (same thing I use for internet).
I'm planning on getting the new AirPort Extreme. Because its faster and has longer range. I have never had a problem with this setup. Just make sure to install the printer driver. __________________
