I like the Ilford smooth pearl too, and a lot of Red River paper is nice. I've been meaning to order some more of their glossy paper.

Can't believe so many people like pearlescent finishes. For me, the surface interferes with the image too much and it's too glossy but without the extra Dmax of gloss. Of all the pearls, Hahn FAP has best Dmax but I still don't like it.

Can't make a selection regardless of printer: high-end Epsons with K3 inks are great on matt, poor on glossy (IMHO) without gloss optimiser.

I like HP Pro Satin with the Z3100, Epson's own PPGloss with their R1800, and Innova Fiba Gloss on Epsons for B&W. The latter only on prints bigger than A3; smaller prints suffer from interference from the paper's surface texture, but it has great Dmax without being over glossy.

IMO I don't see the interferance. Mine with the Canon 9000 printer are great.
Everyone loves the look of them that I show them to. They can't believe it's
a digital print from an ink jet printer.
