Anyone else kind of excited by the Epson 3800?
I'm going to be looking at this one. Julio www.pbase.com/loansharkx __________________

Wow, no one is interested in this printer?
![]() ![]() I'm thinking 17" X 22" prints, 8 color inks, 3 levels of black, black, light black and light light black (think B&W printing), large capacity tanks and media up to 1.5mm thick.* Hello...canvas?... Here's an intro http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/W...seBVCookie=yes Julio |

If I had the money, I would jump on one of those but, most likely, it will be an R1800 when I buy another wide format ink jet. (I'm still using my Epson 1270, although I don't print many photos on it. I use it mostly for signs and banners.)

I'm looking closely at all the new wide format printers, but I think 2007 will be the year when I move on one, when one of the follow-on models is released. There are issues with all the printers - ipf5000, the z3100, etc. - that I'd like to see remedied.

Don´t forget that in the end the 3800 is an cheap package if you think of how much ink you get. According to two different reviews you get ink worth 600$ with the printer, so the printer is not that badly priced either.
Also, in the long end, the 3800 is cheaper than the 1800 and 2400, but the 4000 and 4800 is cheaper than the 3800 when it comes to ink. |

I debated for quite some time between getting te 3800 or the 4800. I decided since I had less room in my new house I opted for the 3800. The inkjetart web site shows some of their initial evaluations and it may be a better pritner in some respects. I do think I will miss the roll paper option.
I am on a waiting list right now, and I am hopeful it will arrive soon. Scott |

Scott, you are right.
The 4800 is pretty much larger than the 3800 and i think that is one of the main reasons why people wil buy the 3800 instead. But, for people that produce on their printer and sells prints and also that needs to print panorama te 4800 is better suited. Specially with an RIP that can do scatter to place the images in such an way that they do not take to much space. Then itis just to cut them out without wasting to much paper. |

I could have purchased an Epson 4000 for about $600 (used) with extra supplies and opted to not too. I trust the person selling it, so that is not the issue. Its an issue of size and space. I don't have the space for this size of printer.
![]() Instead I purchased an Epson R800 and am working it in to my workflow. Thoughts anyone? If so, lets start a new thread for that. ![]() __________________
