I am sure Bob will be able to answer any questions you have -- he's pretty good -- It is a relatively new product and not too many people do high end large events - so true there are not to many discussion groups out there -- There has been a rebate on it from day one so I don't forsee any changes - but who knows --
For 4x6 prints I am at $15 - $20 for 5x7 -- and if I had to per unit price it -- about $5 for keychains after the cost of the keychains themselves -- if you have any questions -- feel free to give me a shout -- good luck! Joe __________________

I spoke to Bob, who was nice, but didnt do a good job at convincing me to buy the snaplab. I told him I might buy it, and I might because of the speed.
I cant seem to find many common people dicussing the snap lab, and this concerns me .... Ill keep looking. Thanks again, and if anyone else has it, please chime in. |

I just received my snap lab today and had it up an running in about 1/2 hour. Someone asked if it could handle raw files. OK If ya use a usb cable and plug into your puter whatever program you use for raw will then work. Hope I said that right. Anotherwards it is not strictly a stand alone unit. As a stand alone it has cropping ect and all the frills. When hooked into puter you use whatever software you have to process and then hit print as you normally wood.

Yes it is true that you can hook your Snaplab to your computer or laptop add it as you would any regular printer and print from any program -- so if you shoot RAW files and import them into Photoshop you can print directly from Photoshop...

Hi Joe,
I did more research and have decided to wait it out. I'm pretty certain the snaplab will drop in price after the new year. I don't believe they've sold nearly as many as they claim, and that the price is going to drop pretty soon. I still appreciate all of your help ... ![]() |

Printer prices have a history of not dropping. The printer itself may seem high priced, but it probably is built like a tank, and can handle a humongous volume. You can get a $200 to $500 dye-sub that can be taken to events and has a screen to do touch ups and such, but it doesn't have as good a screen, and probably can not handle the volume, and is certainly not as fast.
At a baseball game (state finals), there was an outfit that was camped there. They shot pictures during the game and their "buddy" was back at the exit with a laptop and a couple of ink-jets. After awhile, some people left because they didn't want to wait around. I have no idea what they did when one little ink tank ran out. I doubt they get 200 pictures out of one set of inks, but maybe they can. At least when the SnapLab spits out the print, the customer can handle it and put in away without a possible smear, run, or color shift later. Joe is right. Time is money. You'd think that you could even take the printer to an event, and let people print their own pics for $2 to $5 a piece and make some decent profit. |

Hi Kim --
I have to agree with Mr. Pickles -- printers of this caliber generally do not go down in price -- that is why they have rebates -- Based on our conversation I think if you don't get this printer you will be in the same boat as the guy at the baseball game -- my .02 -- besides -- if you buy it this year you can use it as a nice deduction Good Luck! |

Ink costs are a factor. Yes, ink-jets have a place, and if someone feels the need to print a 13x44 at home, they certainly can. If someone needs to print 4x6's at home, then an ink-jet is a waste of money to me. No way you're gonna print 4x6's at home for the money a store will print them. The store will not use an ink-jet either. A dye-sub that will print 4x6's for 25 cents, while still more than typical stores, beats an ink-jet cost by a bigger margin.

Really easy to use. The borders an everything are a snap and really add to the array of things youcan do. I am an 65 old retired guy who just likes a lot of nice toys. I got them both so as not to keep changing paper as my grand daughter have a zillion pict. to print as it is now the boy craze for them. Starting to understand?. I have been fortunate as my wife goes along with ANYTHING I do as long as it's NOT house money. I did not mean to sound snippy ifin I did.
Happy holidays and the best of luck in your venture Diaedy |

Hi Guys --
Sorry I have not been around -- very busy shooting - which is always good -- Kim -- I understand you did buy your Sony from Bob -- how is it going? Diaedy - did you buy yours from Bob as well? As for the question about the sound -- it is not noisy at all when you consider it is a printer -- hard to qualify what you consider noisy. Would it wake you up from a nap -- doubt it -- Happy to answer any other questions -- Happy Shooting! __________________ |
