Default Dutch Warmish Tone

After looking in my art books - on Dutch Genre Paintings - I feel I have the color of the skin quite close to that in the reproduction of many art pieces.

Rembrandt, Hals and othes had this warm tone in some of their images. For me this tone suits her personality better than a cold - blue tint - from a flash or even outside light itself. This is not a formal study - only a quick 'grab' study as she is looking at something outside. Blinds were set to 45 degrees to the roof.

I used my FLASH WB without the flash. My EV is at MINUS 0.3. My Color Mode is at NATURAL for softer colors.

The warm tones are nice. The reflections in her glasses are a bit much.

I feel lthe same - about the reflections and I tried to get her to turn away from the window - but I guess I did not get her to turn far enough.

We have to agree, Bill, the warm tones help an image like this very well. My thanks for visiting and kind words. I put this in both places so those who do not come here can see it.

Best wishes for a Good Weekendl.

While at the mall at lunch time, Anne did this one basing the light level on some of Hals and Rembrandts' darker images.

I used FLUORESCENT LIGHT 2, Ev @ MINUS 0.3.

If I went any brighter in my exposure - I would have wiped out the wall lamp and the mirror frame in the b/g. Lamp is cropped out, but mirror is there.

My image of Anne - like my image - I did at FLUORESCENT LIGHT #2 to keep the ambience of the darker lighting. Also, both show the warmer personality of the subject better than if I color corrected them.

Proper correction for the lights would not do the subject justice - Rembrandt and Hals style - as I tried to imitate here - and in my image - does.

Both images I did on SOFT - NATURAL - COLOR SETTING. Also, I feel natual light suits images better than flash or other harsh lights in many cases.

I can see the warm tones of which you speak. It does remind me of a Rembrandt in tone.

For those who may have a small LED flashlight, I did this earlier this morning.
My LED has 4 bulbs around the edge and 1 in the center.

In this one - using FLASH WB and EV at MINUS 0.3, - I used just the 4 edge lights - giving the least amount of light - and held it where it gave hardly a noticeable amount of fill.

I like this better than a glary flash in a case like this. Also, I like to be able to see where and how much light I have on a subject this way. A flash does not give that same opportunitly as well.
