Default 500 poses for Women

I got this new book, and as I flipped through the pages, my daughter was looking over my shoulder..."I'll do those for you!" she says....
"All 500?" I asked, and she said she would. We won't do all 500, as some of them are impractical and not our style, but we'll have fun trying the ones we can...:O)

The first and third are the first and third in the book, the second was a spark of creativity, which I don't get too often...

Please do share them with us as you progress through the book.. kudos to your daughter for offering to help! (so what's the author of that book?) Just curious.. how old is your daughter?

They look good, though I'm not on my calibrated monitor.. yet it seems like the color/white balance varies between the images..? Guess that would be my 'critque' .

I will post as we go through the book--it's by Michelle Perkins...it's a great project, and wonderful practice...it took like 12 different shots before I got the lighting right on the first one... So it is not only a pose book, but a lighting book!

My girl is 14....and has always been a ham...fortunately, I think she is photogenic as well...

The second one I did cool down to give a 'cold' look to match the BG...the high key was just hard to get the skin tones right...

These are nice but, the "spark of creativity" one looks better than the other two. Send that one to the author of the book to make it 501 poses.

Thanks I will check out that book . Yes your daughter is very photogenic.. perhaps your wife could join in for some too ! Interesting on the color issues.. I'm trying to get a better eye for color.. so I appreciate your response.

When I first joined people thought I was a woman and then I just put my name in the signature box and it cleared it right up. Just ask Kelly. And Lee.

LOL! That IS my picture in the avatar, not my wife's... I ain't gonna be posin' anytime soon...I prefer to be behind the camera...

I gave up on the skin tones for #3, so I decided to just turn it to B&W--is it any better? Believe it or not, there is less detail in the one in the book than mine...

Hi,

lovely looking gal you are and your daughter!

No 2 rocks and no 3 in the high key B&W is a great edit.

The challenge has now been set by you to pose one original for every two you pick from the book! good luck!

Great images although I think the final B&W (and colour) are a little over exposed down the side where the light is coming from (camera right).

AAWWW, thanks!! I'll pass that on...

Whew! If I'd known that was now going to be the challenge, I probably wouldn't have posted mine... But, it might be good for me...to try to come up with 150 new poses....

I agree. I had another light on the right...and I didn't really need it...could have just gotten away with the front light and the reflector...Ah well...I'm learning...

It's a very saveable image though - I think the pose is great and could easily me recovered in Adobe Ps or Lr.

Not sure how this will look on here given the image was pretty compressed - I know it's not (great) but there must be lots more detail still in your original (especially if its a raw)

That looks great! Thank you...In light of my ongoing SOOC experiment, I have also been shooting in JPEG, with various settings applied in camera. While these images are not straight out of camera, they haven't been altered too much...I'm liking shooting with jpeg for the much quicker processing, but for an important event or shot, I plan on using RAW...

Glad you liked it (wasn't sure about posting)!

Regards shooting jpg, why not try raw+jpg - just in case you get a cracker (which I think you did) then you have much more latitude for editing. As I say the one I edited can certainly be saved especially with the greater detail you will have in the original.

Cheers
Jim
