Hope this is in right place.
Been wanting to try this for a while and the wife finally gave in. Got a few good ones(Ithink). Kinda my take the mom`s to be in the near future. This is one from a series. Just thought I would share see what you guys/girls think. What works, does not work. I know it might not be for everyone but hey I`m about trying something different. Thanks for looking........ "> ![]() Ok I added this photo to help bring people back from my depressing photo of the future and mom`s to be (pic has been desaturated and made soft in post for that warm and fuzzy feeling)"> ![]() __________________

At first I thought. This dude's sick
and then I kept looking at it. Trying to figure it all out. And then I realized man, I''ve been looking at it for a while. And then I started thinking, there's a lot of cool messages, and then I realized the lighting and processing is cool, and then I started thinking yeah but this guy is sick. But in a good way. But damn, that's a unique and cool picture. Love it. It's awesome when people put this amount of thought and work into a shot. I think you are to be commended. Great idea.(Btw, your wife deserves a lot of credit. And you don't have to worry about whether she really loves you or not. This proves it. )Edit: Right arm supporting belly and left arm on bag are my suggestions and then magazine cover "Where are we headed?" |

Superb conceptually, museum worthy. The background is a bit too light, IMO, and makes it hard initially to focus on the subject.

Sick in a good way, I like that. ![]() ![]() Your so right , her right hand cusping her belly would say so much more, dam. How did I not see that...... ![]() Quote:
I agree on the bg. Was not my first choice. I will try darkening it. Originally I wanted a bombed out building/war torn bg. Had no luck first time around finding one. |

I feel a little unsettled looking at this. But I think that is a good thing as it challenges me to look deeper. Props to your wife and I love your post work.

I think it's really cool!
But I think what would be better would be if you take a photo of her wearing that mask and changing a big ol' dirty diaper, ROFL! |

While this is no vision in my mind of the future for bringing up a child, I think you did a great job with the concept and processing. I agree with the suggestions on the hands and bg. I do have a vision of that mask becoming handy soon enough with the diaper changing sessions.

Conceptually Brilliant. It is so cool to see you take an image from your mind and put it into print. Job Well Done!!!!
You should really be proud of yourself and your wife for making your vision a reality (both picture and baby). Congrats on the future little one. Oh and btw nice soft shot too. |

Right arm supporting belly and left arm on bag are my suggestions and then magazine cover "Where are we headed?[quote] Nice idea. I was also going to say something along the lines of, keep the hands in and it's a winner. Second one is very sweet. |

Any photo that makes you look longer, and keeps you looking, and then makes you think, is exceptional.
Could be art, could be photo, no difference to me. Great job. |

I didn't want to look--but I did, and did, and did. Yes, the hand supporting the belly might be a nice addition, but the "no supoort" gives it a more disparing feel.
What most impresses me is your taking an idea through to completion. I'm sure most of us have ideas floating around in our heads that will never be captured. Good work. Please pass along special Kudos to your wife. It takes some courage to do something such as this. And the last one, while more conventional, is nice work as well. |

Well, the idea is good...
As is the processing... Like Carol suggested, the background is too light. For reasons mentioned, and it needs to be slightly darker to fit the mood better. The expression behind the gas mask is a bit too "deer in the headlights" and the eyes are just too Bambi for the theme. The pose, with the face "head on" does not help the matter. And my favorite nitpick... The outfit. If a person is in a situation where you need a gas mask you usually want to cover yourself better, unless you want to be scratching your skin off... Tear gas (the real deal used during war) for example, is a nasty substance and you want to use overalls or something to cover yourself. Well, anyway, that part is just nitpicking, you probably wanted to show of the belly and create some disturbing contrast with the whole deal. And the hair is way too clean, in the context of the belly and the surroundings. Too bad about the cropped hand... So, I want to emphasize that I liked it, to the point it being so good that I really want it to go that extra mile to be perfect. More pain, grief and dirt... It's very close. Keep it up ![]() |
