Engagement portrait. Off-camera strobe added on most images.

These are very nice! I bet they are gonna LOVE them! From the first set, #4 is dynamite, and #5 & 6 are too. My favorites are the 2 in the 2nd set. Well done, Jim!

All very good, hard to pick a favorite.
Great job My one negative is that the 4th one has a little harshness to the light with the arm and chin shadows. |

This a very nice set of photos and I’m sure that this couple will love what you have done. Good job!
I especially took note of the thread because my daughter is also named Nadia (after her grandmother) ![]() |

Jim,
LOVE the classic look to these. Off camera flash outdoors can be problematic because of harsh shadows cast from the flash as you have on several here. Lets pick em apart! #2 & 8. Had you reversed the subjects it would have given you the wonderful opportunity to show the engagement ring on her hand, then you would have simply moved both hands toward one another, placed her hand on top of his, and you just showed not only the ring, but by them touching one another it shows LOVE. I would clone out his fingers growing out of her side. ![]() Benji |

Thank's for all the comments and critiques. Yes, I don't do any images to show off the ring during the engagement ring. It's certainly a consideration, but the wedding is when I usually do that, since they both have bands to show at that time. On #2, in that location the predominant light was coming from my left so she really had to be on that side anyway.
Re some of the harsh shadows, I do soften some of the transitions in some of the finished prints (closeups mostly). If I had an assistant, I would use a softbox close-in to eliminate the harshness, but I'm stuck with a Lumedyne or SB. A softbox outdoors tends to blow over very easily, so I rarely use them, except when I know there's going to be absolutely no wind. I've already broken three of them. I'm looking for some peg-leg attachments that can be used outdoors. BTW, they selected 4, 7 and 8 was the large print. |

Very nice Jim. The only thing I would have pointed out is a few of them have hard flash shadows (but Ben already did). No way I can pick a favorite - they are all nice.
