I really liked Athena's photos with the rose and it gave me an idea to try something similar. However, I hadn't planned to do any antiqued/aged processing to them. That is, until I realized I had forgotten to check my camera settings, and they were still set for an indoor program from a couple of days before.
LOTS of noise. I was not a happy camper....Anyway, with some links to textures from Lee and some fiddling around in Photoshop, I think I salvaged the noisy images and ended up pretty happy with them. I took a couple more with the correct settings that weren't so noisy, too, and processed them differently. Would appreciate C&C. I know this kind of processing doesn't alway appeal to everyone, especially since I probably didn't pull it off as well as some might have. lol Tina I can never figure out how I want to crop something. Here's the first "noisy" one which ended up being one of my favorites, with two different crops. #1 ![]() #2 (same photo, cropped wide) ![]() #3 Another of the "noisy" ones ![]() #4 These are the not so noisy ones ![]() #5 I really like how this one turned out ![]() Tina __________________

gawd if you had taken the time with the lower hand that you did with the upper one. I liked the #1 Close pose better than the 3/4 length which was loose to me. See that bend and grace in the upper hand? Pose the lower hand much the same way and you'll have it exacting. Really nice work.

Better luck next time.Edited to add: In case it wasn't clear in what I wrote above, I actually agree with you about the lower hand. I just wasn't having a lot of luck, and she was getting irritated with me. I had a little better hands in the last few shots, but didn't like the other aspects of the photos as well as the others. Thanks for the feedback. Tina |

I am honored to have inspired something so beautiful Tina!!
Of the grainy ones I like the first one best because of the lower hand. Without standing in front of the mirror and trying it myself I'm not sure what advice to give you about that though. And that last one is amazing. Lower hand is better. I just want you to put an vignette on it. Tried it myself and felt it was the perfect touch to a gorgeous image. Excellent work Tina!! ![]() |

I LOVE #1. The antique feel about it is awesome. I like everything about it. The pose, the light, the texture. Great work.
#5 is a close second. The soft fell you captured is great. |

Lee you are missing something good. Tina, I am not as sophisticated a critiquer as alot of people you have already heard from, but I like all of these. All of them and your daughter has such an innocent beauty that it is almost jaw-dropping. Salvaged....you're killing me....hopefully they look as good in print!

WOW! I think images 1 and 5 are outstanding. The soft feel of the first picture really grabs my attention. Thanks for sharing this series.

Your daughter is beautiful - I don't think you could take a bad photo of her!
I'm a huge fan of #1 especially, and #5 as a distant second (not to downplay it, but to say how much I like #1). I have several "paintings" (cheap BB&B knock offs) of garden flowers in my living room and this photo could so easily fit as part of the set. I love the atmosphere of the picture, the noisiness and antique-ish-ness. The only one I didn't like was #4, where she was looking directly at the camera. The charm of these photos (to me) is the "young girl contemplating the flower" and all of the symbolism that conjures. If you could get her to do different poses with this flower (or with other flowers), you could easily have an art exhibit. "Youth and Flowers" would make an intereting exhibit theme..... (sorry, didn't mean to get so effusive, I just really love these photos) |

Okay, so I'm an oddball, I really like #3. She is looking at the camera, almost, are you sure? Just something in that photo grabbed my attention and wouldn't let go. Thanks, and keep up the good work.

Strike that - I like her looking at the camera in #3, but not in #4. I think it's the head tilt that bothers me. It seems as if she's saying "what are you gonna make of it!?", rather than keeping in the contemplative mood.
The look in her eyes in #3 is very......je ne sais qui, but to me it feels more in keeping with the themes that I see in the rest of these photographs. |
