Opps - said I'd post these and then forgot.
My favorite outtake - the hairlight forgot to fire, but the expression is nice. ![]() opps - spun around too far ![]() click the images to view them larger Left all the stray hairs, freckles and skin texture in that last one... Couldn't be bothered just for an outtake. ![]() __________________

Wow, you're "outtakes" look pretty damn good. First one is really, really, nice and shows off your eyes, so I like that one a little better, but the second one also has a lot of flair to it. How'd you decide that these didn't make the cut, I actually like them at least as much if not better than the "intake". BTW, freckles are cute, so I don't know why you would always feel the need to PS them out. (Hint, hint for the next one)They're you! Great job!

Athena, both are wonderful photos! I agree with Bunny that the second one has passion, but the first one is the one with the warmth! You are a beautiful young lady and we here at the Camel always look forward to photos of you. Cheers, Bill P.

Put me in #2 camp, I really like the expression in #1 but the hairlight makes #2.

I'm having a forgetful week - first forgot to post these and then forgot I had!
![]() Thank you for all the wonderfully kind comments. Reading them keeps me motivated each week to think up something new and then try to make it work. #1 is an outtake only because the darn hairlight didn't fire, and #2 because I spun too far and the hairlight sort of missed then. It wasn't an easy endeavor. ![]() I'm really interested in all advice on post processing skin with freckles. I've spent a lot of time in PS this week messing around with a different outtake and have realized quite quickly that making freckled skin look good while keeping the freckles visible is very, very difficult. |

Athena,
The second one with the hairlight is really a great shot. Great expression, your letting yourself go and it shows. |

Great question about the freckles. Keep them, clean them or remove them all?
I found myself removeing them in some of the Portraits I had done of the Theater Group (mostly on the woman, anyway). Age spots or just freckles, and I didn't even bat an eye or even think that they would add character. I just went in and found myself working on them out of habit. I don't know whats right or even when its appropriate to remove them. I figured in show business with the Stage Lights or anything you wouldn't see them. But, all of my Portraits are Candids off the Stage and just of when there hanging around... Even though, I really like your second shot and love your expression. I was looking harder at the first shot. I think its such a great attempt, that if you could redoe it and get that hair light to fire you might have a real keeper here... |

I was bummed that the hairlight didn't fire in that first one (I had it lined up too perfectly behind me and it missed the signal from the other light). Oh well - there will be more. ![]() __________________
