and I just had to play! Given the new bees a bit of a workout. Got the light meter and trying to figure that bugger out now... makes my head hurt! Had my niece come for a visit and put her to work!

Kelly & Harry... I got the Sekonic L-358. Exposing Kali is very difficult as she has extremely fair skin and is very easy to blow it out. Did not help that I used broad lighting on her, but her face is quite narrow so... Then she is normally a beautiful strawberry blonde and she died her hair a dark brown and so ended up a very rich auburn... and that cast against that pale skin makes her skin appear to glow under the lights. So trying to find a balance was a challenge.

It's a nice image and you are off to a great start with the new lights.

A few suggestions:
Did you have your model lights on? If you did, you may want to turn them up. This will cause the pupils to constrict and give you more of the blue of her eyes. I would also raise the your light. Where it is now, it is placing the catch light low in the eye.

I also have the 358. When I first got it I could not figure out why my pics where still underexposed. If you run into that problem you may need to dial in the meter to match your camera.

Bundy... thanks for the comments. I did have the model lights on and turned the tracking off so that they were at full power... I am going to have to get some of the 150W Halogen bulbs to replace the 100 as these are not strong enough I guess.

Stacey this one is absolutely beautiful. You evidently understand the principles of lighting much better than I do. I've had my bees for awhile and I am nowhere near where you are.

What was your setup if you don't mind my asking?

Maurice... thank you for your kind words, however, I do not understand lighting all that well.. nor any better than you do. I play and practice... tis what I do!

This is the set up I used for this one. I dont remember what the lights were set at though... sorry! The main was f5.6 is all that I remember, sorry.
