I really like the concept of this image. But I am not sure of the mood you were trying to convey or the full message you were trying to give. I note you did not have anything in your profile against edits so I took the liberty to play with the image a little. I apologize upfront if you prefer no edits and will pull this out if you prefer. I just played with the mood/lighting a bit to see what a different perspective may have on the image.

I get the concept, but as noted, no one cleans a backdrop. A dingy old building with crap hardwood, or cracked linoleum flooring would have been better.

ok... 'Clean up' is the name of the post/image... it would appear that the general consensus is that the moniker doesn't quite fit. I am looking at what the subject is wearing… it kinda gives me the feel that it is like something that you would wear to a fancy funeral… so if that is the sense of the mood.. then the expression should have been more somber and the action of ‘clean up’ could have included say picking up broken pieces of something, a platter, picture something that helped to demonstrate the actual ‘clean up’ of something rather than wiping the backdrop…. Which well as was stated before… you normally do not do.. (uh.. unless like me you just did a soot of a naked baby… I was a wiping maniac that time!)

im gonna chime in on this ,does it really matter if the shot has so much meaning ? i dont think every picture has to have such meaning behind it. i know first hand what the meaning was in this pic since the person taking the picture is my cousin and taken in my garage/studio of his grand daughter. between shoots she spilled coke on my muslin and she was trying to soak it up before i knew what happened ! no meaning behind it other than his granddaughter and some fine memories down the road. this is why it was taken. since this is his first post here i thought he made a good choice of pictures because it has meaning to him. and that is what counts...

I agree that not every picture has to have a story behind it! However with out any explanation and the lighting and costume/form of dress and the vague title… I guess it just lent to ‘enquiring minds wanting to know’ more about it… and really… is that not good that an image makes us think about it?
Ponder meanings? How many of us have stared at a … say Picasso and wondered what the hell was going on in his mind and what the image was supposed to convey?? ![]() |

See I thought you were going for the " mysterious lady cleaning up a crime scene" kind of look. That's what I came up with. I don't think there has to be a meaning, and each one of us can interpret any image how we want to, at least that's what my artist friends tell me. Most of the "meaning" of my pics is "damn I think my kids are cute no matter how I mess up the lighting ratios." I am quite sure that is not everyone's interpretation. So...as my daughter says..."Whatever"

This is not a portrait...perse...and is intended to communicate something. The expression does not seem to match the mood, IMHO>

Leave it to me to be the lone dissenter. I like this picture. Yeah I'm not sure what it's all about, but that's part of it's appeal to me. It's one of those mysterious type images that at the same time draws you in, but troubles you. I say excellent job.
