Default New portrait lens test

The 85mm f/1.4 is regarded as the best portrait lens in Nikon's lineup.* I just received mine on Wednesday.* It will take some time to figure it out, but here's a few test shots.

Thanks, Lauriet! It does a wonderful job on backgrounds, too. I call it my Cream Machine!

Here's another test shot.* The first 3 samples were taken at very wide apertures (f/1.6 and f/1.8 ).* This one is at f/2.5... a test to see if the lens would still puree the background.

Wonderful depth of field with big apertures don't you think ?

On picture one try to manual focus on the eyes, glasses will sometimes through of your AF and with large apertures that is very small anyway.

Greetings,
Frank

It's a treat to work with. It makes accurate focus placement extremely critical, but the challenge of working with paper thin DOFs is fun.

That would be a difficult with the small viewfinder on the d70, but I'm looking forward to trying MF when my d200 arrives.

Greetings,
Frank
