Jay if your going to use your new light it for lighting your white backdrop you need to ask someone smarter than I am if the 400 has enough power. If your just using it for a hair light I am sure the 400 would be enough, my 800 I have at the lowest setting with a 20 degree grid on it for a hair light. I did get the boom arm because I shoot in my dinning room and have a light where I would want the hair light to hang and I know the Mrs. would not like me to mount a hair light from it . I just got the boom arm and I do like it, it gives you the choice on where and what angle you want it. I think it was Benji or Bobby that said you want it behind and pointed toward the head so you don't light the nose.

Here is what my attempt at JZL looks like. AB large softbox main, Med softbox kicker, hair light and backdrop light behind the person. This is from a different shoot but the set up was the same on the photos posted in this thread.
