This was taken today.* My eldest son talking to this huge tree he was climbing about how it was wrong for someone to put nails in it because that would hurt.*
![]() No post processing so I'm sure it could be better and I know the sky is blown out but I was aiming for a silhouette so I'm not sure if I could have done much differently, I don't have any filters for my lenses yet (this was the 17-40) other than my 50mm.* Sara modifying to add...I actually do well with constructive criticism, so as long as it isn't simply a "that sucks" sort of comment I would LOVE comments even if they are negative! The only way to get better is to learn, and you don't learn if people simply pat you on the back. Sara, again. __________________

I think you said the sky was blown out, but it really isn't. Blown out is usually white, and bright. Your sky is bright, but I think it stops short of blown. Anyway, you could use photoshop (or other) and a simple highlight (from shadow/highlight) adjustment could darken the bright spots (sky) just a bit. You don't want to go very far because the image would tip to an overall dark side (watch the histogram).
If this is RAW, you can darken only the bright areas in RawShooter or ACR too pretty easy |

Oh good...see, I am used to more colour in the skies and this one looked so bright to me that it bothered me a bit. On my film camera I had a nice filter but I don't have one yet for either of the lenses I tried out today and it does help. You are right, I don't want to end up with the whole picture being dark, I want the light behind him, but I would have liked it to be a bit more blue.
![]() I wanted to do raw but have been doing jpg. I tried downloading rawshooter but couldn't find it. I tried a couple links and they came back dead and then another one never fully loaded. I don't know what was going on but it just didn't work. Could you give me the URL that I should go to for it? I would love to shoot raw and have the added control. Sara Quote:

Fantastic I love silhouette work and considering the time you have had to practice your doing better than me
![]() I always struggle with this. I tried darkening it a little with the middle slider in the levels but not much different really |

). I was in the shade and so was the tree he'd climbed, but there was a patch of sun just behind it. I think I like the leaves after the darkening...look a little more crisp or something. Thank you. __________________
