Default help me fix this please - dreaded noon bridal shoot

Here is one of the shots from that dreaded noon bridal shoot I had last week - Please help me fix this mess -- she wants the one on the pier ( but I HATE the background) .
Everyone here has such incrediable PS skills , can you help me clean this up (I can barely fix red-eye. ) why do they always want the ones you would never pick in a million years

thanks soo much
Phyllis

mhh ... quite difficult (looks like the colors are quite off and a bit overexposed?)
I just had a go at it: tried to get rid of the red skin and blurred the background a bit and straigthened the horizon. Looks a bit flat but more contrast also does not look too good.

Here's a two minute work over clouds look sloppy would have to really place and layer them better on a higher res'd image but here's the gist of the look. Hope you like

Here is a edit for you... I removed the distracting poles from the background so there is not competition for the bride. I softened the background, however did not change the sky or the horizon as it appears that is the actual line of the horizon rather than a camera/photo issue.. so I chose to leave it true to life... same with the actual sky as I figured the bride would recognize a huge change.

One thing I did change was I did slightly 'trim up the bride' a tad. But a woman normally takes those adjustments in stride and does not really notice them... just thinks that is 'the true way things are!'

Of course this edit is on a small version of the image... PM if you would like assistance on the actual full size image.

I posted a before/after.

Good luck.

EDIT ~ Something I noticed... when these are posted up on the Camel... they are much lighter and appear more washed out then they do on there own on my computer... strange.

Here is a quick fix? Maybe remove the long pole on the left?
Hope this helps. Filter Render Lighting effects omni.
