Default Out of focus

Using an old manual focus lens on a 5D, you do get the odd shot where the focus is slightly out, but sometimes the softness has it's own charm.

No, it was a Tamron 90mm f/2.5 I think (though could have been the Olympus 50mm f/3.5 macro - I can't remember :-\). The 85L would have been in focus on the nose!

It works even though the focus is on the chin.

i think in shots like these the rules are there to be broken. Sometimes a picture is based on a feeling rather than a technique. The focus is actually sharpest just under the left ear, and I had to blur that bit slightly to make it less obvious.

I think it would work better if the focus were on the eyes.

I think it works nicely--it makes me think of baby kisses, with those soft rounded cheeks, and the emphasis on the lips.

I do think the green is a little strong, though.

Beautiful. Reminds me of a dreamy cherub photo. Awesome concept would be to put some Angel wings on him/her (not the cheap crappy looking ones) and do this same shot.
