Using an old manual focus lens on a 5D, you do get the odd shot where the focus is slightly out, but sometimes the softness has it's own charm.

i think in shots like these the rules are there to be broken. Sometimes a picture is based on a feeling rather than a technique. The focus is actually sharpest just under the left ear, and I had to blur that bit slightly to make it less obvious.

Beautiful. Reminds me of a dreamy cherub photo. Awesome concept would be to put some Angel wings on him/her (not the cheap crappy looking ones) and do this same shot.
