circus freak wife.
hi all,
im new over here but thought i would post up one of my latest shots. this was shot for submission into the "get your freak on!" show in boston. the theme is circus freaks, sideshow acts, and general carnie life. i was accepted last week, so it will hang from april30-may21 at space242 in boston. (apologies to those from TPF and IA who have already seen this lol) C&C welcome as always.  thanks for looking!  bigger here __________________

im always open to C&C (comments and crit) i have a couple things that i have in mind...like the dark floor blending with her shoes, and trying to keep the floor flat, but id be happy to have some C&C from others  |

Nice shot Bisquit! I can see why it was accepted at the show. It definitely fits the category! Very well put together.
Other than the floor and shoes you already mentioned I don't see anything I would change. I am not sure I would even change that, the blending in gives it a less staged/studio appearance and helps make it fit into the category. |

That is really cool. I wouldn't change the feet. Having them in the vignette fits in nicely with the theme. Very creative. Love the toning and how you got the extra set of arms blended in perfectly.

Well I don't know that I'd change a lot, but the shadow of the chair seems to grab a lot of attention, imo. I think maybe a reflector bouncing a teensy bit in there might decrease the strength of that shadow. But I wouldn't change any of the other shadows at all. The other thing is the dress seems a little hot, I'm wondering if any detail has been lost in the processing.
Still, it's really cool. Again, congrats. |

thanks for the comments everyone! much appreciated.
i agree with you rain...i think i did blow out the front of the dress and maybe her forearms a bit too. would a reflector be the way to selectively remove those chair shadows? i should def give that a shot next time. i had a second flash, but only had the optical slave set, as i still need to order my second receiver for my triggers. ill def get a decent reflector though...even if its just a trip to the craft store for some foamcore. thanks again all! |

I don't think I'd remove them, I think maybe just soften them a little. I think the shadows are actually a huge part of the effect of this photo.
