Default Photoshop Beginners: A book I just picked up

I want to give a heads up to those who are just getting into photography and learning how to use photoshop to enhance those images more professionally.

The book:
Photoshop-Masking & Compostioning by Katrin Eismann

It has color screen shots of the photoshop tools to aid you along with before/after screen shots to help. You can download the files she uses for free from her website to follow along if you want.

The book shows how to make "Selections" with the use of the Masking Tool in both the Layers mode and the Channels mode which is one area I am really lacking in and using filters in those modes.
I'm only on chapter 5 but in chapter 8 she goes into how to change a background image so a persons hair is blended naturally into the new background, I can't wait to study that chapter b/c I have seen some of her work..amazing!!!

This week I have been applying what I have learned to a few images and it has made a huge difference on how the blended images/colors looks, it all looks more natural.

I have always heard the term "masking" but could never find a detailed explaination on how to apply it with my images and her book really helped. Masking is so kewl!..(insert giggle here).

This type of photoshop process will be old news to most people here but I have been looking for this type of info for months and now I hope to take my images to another level with the info.

If you don't know how to use masking this book should help a lot.

Kevin
