I'm having a frustrating problem and hope someone can shed some light.
I have a Canon 5D and have been using my 70-200 2.8 alot lately. Well, every once in a while, I cannot get the aperture to change. It will stop at 5.6 and no matter what I do, it won't change. I have the camera on Manual mode and the lens on AF. I cleared all the settings on my camera thinking I may have set something to cause this. It was working fine one minute, then this the next. This has happened before and it resolved itself so I'm sure it's got something to do with distance or light, but if I know what's happening, I can fix it myself when it arises again. Anybody else have this happen? Thanks! __________________

Never mind. I must be AB-SO-LOOTLY brain dead today. I didn't have my "On" switch turned all the way over so the wheel would work. I must've changed it while I was shooting. What a dummy.

Willowbridge, IMO, please don't "'dummy" yourself on this. I've caught myself on this type of thing more times than I care to admit!
I think this gives a great reminder that we need to check the simple things first. We live in a complicated society and try to reason our problems with complicated answers. Computer problems: 80% + of the time... cables and connectors. Check the simple things first. I usually run a problem by my kids for the simple reason: I love the simple answers that I get and, they usually make sense. How do you get a giraffe into the refrigerator..... ![]() (Sorry, I couldn't resist) ![]() |

You open the fridge, take the giraffe out and put the elephant in and close the fridge.

Speaking of elephants: How do you get down off an elephant?

You don't. You get down off a duck.
