Cool, thanks for the link. Not sure about the wide angle vertical, have to think on that one.

I particulary love scenes with little dynamic range..... processed as an HDR.

The one I'd add is people who take it upon themselves to declare something as worthy of being on the list. Each of these things is fine when used properly and bad when done poorly. HDR images of a boring hallway are still boring; vertical wide angles are no better or worse than horizontals but certainly inappropriate when the subject did not have vertical interest.

I have to agree on the HDR as well and, am glad they said it as well. THe only good HDR is that which you cant tell is done that way.

more pet peeves .... "great DOF" -- really? you mean nice blur or nice depth or WTF do you mean? also: misusing the term "bokeh" to death.
I like HDR, when done subtly ... not to where it doesn't even resemble reality. |

Fun read. Reading the comments over there was even better.
Now I don`t agree with some of the list but I must say the flash thing does bother me though. I see it all the time at school plays or sporting events etc with poor lighting and the subjects are far away. I get drilled all the time at the local indoor track by moms, dads, grandparents who can not figure out why their pics are all blurry even using the flash on their pos or even their newly acquired dslr. I was flattered in the beginning that people were asking me how to take better pictures but now its a pain. I still answer all questions and fumble through their menus trying to explain iso etc etc but I always get the feeling they are expecting me to say " oh here is your problem you forgot to push this button to make it all ok" I disagree about the watermark. I don`t think you need to a be a "pro" to want to protect your property either. Everybody wants something for free and you here /read all the time where somebody has discovered their photo being used without thier knowledge. I had it happen to me where I posted images to a forum(low rez ) and stated that if they were interested in a print to get a hold of me. Some did some didn`t thats the nature of the beast but the one guy who did not buy a print did download the low rez files and used them as screensavers on his phone. So when posting now I watermark and hopefully make it difficult to clone out. I aslo agree it is a way to advertise as well |

One they forgot. Those hideous images on the beach where the sun is behind the couple peeking through and creating a huge sun dog nearly obliterating the entire image and washing it out so you can't see either face. Then when they post the image on the 'net we have idiots that say "Kuhl! How did you did this?"

I can understand about the Watermark thing, but we need only one to be put in an awkward place, so nobody claims it's theirs

I can see some of them. I personally like some HDR but not when it looks like a painting. I have been testing with HDR and try to keep it real. It is a great tool! Now the 45 pictures of a hangnail that does bother me. Less Is more!

About the wide-angle vertical shots, I quite like them, to a certain degree. For example, some pictures of trees look far more impressive if shot with a wide-angle. __________________
