Default My $18,000 camera!

Well, I finally did it. I went out and bought an $18,000 camera! Now I didn't actually spend $18,000 but that's what it cost brand new. I spent like $25.
A flash back to the Associated Press Kodak NC2000e (actually a Nikon N90s with a huge digital back attached).

Oh what 15 years will do to a camera. 1 MP, huge, slow, bad colors...

Here's a link to some information regarding the camera: Rob Galbraith DPI: A look back at the NC2000 and
Rob Galbraith DPI: Sunburned Lobsters

Here's proof that it's the photographer and NOT THE CAMERA that determines whether you get good images (some really good images):
Rob Galbraith DPI: NC2000 Gallery

So, do you want one? I'll sell mine at 50% off the original price!

Awesome find and great link. A wonderful addition to your collection. It would be great to find a battery and fire it up...

This is fantastic! I'm surprised that film cameras didn't move this way - all the medium format users didn't want to give up their bodies, so they went to digital backs.

What a neat piece of photo-history! Great photos out of it, too!!

An outfit called 'E-film' did! Or at least they succesfully launched press releases every 6 months, for 5 years plus, claiming that they had developed a digital back for 35mm film bodies. They had a website with pictures too. But it was all a con. For which the fast rotating editors of photo mags and websites fell every time again. Hook, line, and sinker. The pictures were CGI (and very crude at that). It was all probably an investment scam.
I'm betting Mr. E-film today either lounges on his own private Caribean island, or in federal prison.

Wow, that thing was $18,000?

I can see it now: some day some guy is going to post a picture of my 1DS Mark II and say, "My $7,000 camera. I bought it for $2."

It's not what you put into the camera that counts, but what you get out of it.

I found and bought a cheap PCMCIA card on eBay so I'm going to try and located a power adapter to see if it will charge and play with it just for kicks. I probably have a power adapter that will fit it from some of my old stuff. We'll see...

Amazing the problems they had and are still legacy today.

Amazing the photographers put up with it.

If it had been me, I'd be the last 14 years on internet forums complaining about it ....

Which reminds me of another little ditti, Canon, with the 1D were not actually going to put a review screen on it at all.

Some may remember the criticism Canon received for not providing a zoom review and even today their review screens are arguably the poorest on the market. Their philosophy was that 'professional' photographers would not want a review LCD.

? but true!!
