Default Cleaning the rubber

Most of my cameras have rubber or rubberized grips, and some of them are quite dirty now, from use at the beach or just outdoors in general.

What's the best way to clean these grips to make them look shiny new for resale?

Default Re: Cleaning the rubber

Do not use alchohol. I generally use dish soap (Dawn) and water on a cloth and wipe dry. Obviously you have to be careful about drips and runs. Then, if it needs to look extra spiffy, Armour-all or some other silicone treatment. It's slippery though so you'll want to test it before going all out.

You can buy special rubber cleaner, I forget the name, from printer and copier repair supply places. It's designed for paper or tape pickup and transfer rollers.

Good luck,
Chip

I use Meguiar's Rubber and Vinyl Cleaner, get it at the auto parts store. It's made for cleaning...Uh...Rubber and vinyl...Without slickening it up or sealing the rubber (you don't want to seal the rubber, you want it to be able to breathe) like Armour-All will.
