Here are two shots of many that I took tonight. I'm having trouble with keeping some foreground definition rather than reducing what is there to dark silhouettes. The first one's settings were: 1/90 at F22, ISO 200, Focal length 35 mm. The second was 1/60 at F19, ISO 400, Focal lenght 200 mm.

Dear Oldtown,
I somehow hit the wrong key and took a detour in cyber space. I looked at your gallery, and I really liked the children photos. In the pond picture and the tic trees picture, I thought things were just a tad out of focus. But maybe it's just me. Keep up the good work. |

This sunset was taken several years ago while in Lake Tahoe. Was more interested in the sky colors and the contrast of light and dark, not sure if I should have had a brighter foreground. ISO 100, F 2.8, 1/125 The second picture was taken during a golf trip earlier this year. Look above the walking bridge - the ball in flight. ISO 64, F4.0, 1/500 Would have loved to get more clarity of ball to sky - motion pictures - yeesh!

Nice work, all. Keep them coming! I have been overwhelmed with business lately. Looking forward to class.
Katie, size your picture a little larger! |

I shot this picture with a level on my camera, and I thought everything was as is, but I was working from a low position on the tripod, and I might have misread it. Anyway, with Photoshop help, I rotated and cropped and this is the result, a straighter horizon line.

Tonight we had a storm approaching which gave the sky dramatic effects and changes. I'm going to post these separately so they're spaced, hopefully in the order that I took them. Sunset29: 1/10 at F16, Exposure Bias Value +1, ISO 400, Focal length 70mm.

Wow! Great color in the sky! Good work. As you can see, the dynamic range of your camera will not allow you to capture both the sky and the landscape, so decisions have to be made, or you start braketting your shots and combining them in photoshop.
