Nice writeup on thoughts from an experienced photographer going back to what he wished he knew when he was starting...

That was a fun read I really liked this one
Take 10,000 bad photos I have noticed this myself, I use to take 500+ pics at and event and from those anywhere from 100-200 get tossed out. Now I take 250 and most of them are good. And also before I use to take pics and everyone needed to be cropped. Now I compose in the camera so it is ready to publish as soon as upload to computer. |

Brian! Thanks for posting that link. I have downloaded and made a copy fro my files- it's brilliant!
I have met a lot of fine photographers who work more from instinct than theory. Some students attend their seminars and lectures and came away complaining that their teacher was not willing to get into "how to" and more definitive "instructions". It is just that some photographers create great stuff instinctively and find difficulty in putting some of their techniques into words or exact instructions. In those cases, the students have to intensely strain the powers of observation. As you know "old school" guys like me- stress the basics which are really applicable to all types and styles of photography. There are many photographers out there with fertile imaginations and who posses creativity far beyond description- only problems is- many of them have no idea of how to transfer all their imaginings into images on photographic paper. That article is pure gold- thanks again! Ed ![]() |
