Default Trying to find a table

Man, I hope I'm posting this question in the right place. I want to find a roll around table with a cabinet cavity beneath that will stowe some equipment. Here's what I've got in mind. Baby portraits in homes. What I'd like to find is a rolling cabnet that will double as a posing table and have storage for lighting, throw covers and small props. Just something sharp that will allow me to make fewer trips in and out during set-up tear down. You folks with some big box experience might have seen something similar used by PCI many years ago. If memory serves me correct the top was outfitted with a baby poser on that one. I've searched all over the internet and am finding nothing. Any clues? Any one? Thank you in advance.
Steve

A good woodworking guy could do this easy enough. I can see several options, including an inexpensive combination of plastic storage boxes, a collapsible wire shopping cart, and a folding/breakdown table.

For the sake of durablity and looks I'd like it to be metal. I considred a base from a roll around tool chest but most of those are filled with drawers. I don't want to have to break the thing down and fold it apart. I'd like to roll it in pretty much ready to use.

Sounds like you want a parts cart and have the underside fitted with a cabinet designed for what you want to carry. They run about $40.00 plus the cabinet work.

Look at the Sear's tool chest carts. I believe they have one that has cabinet doors and they're relatively lightweight.

By the way, get one with the biggest wheels you can find. 5 inches, six would be better. This will get you over the dirt, grass, shag carpeting and cobblestones and stairs.

Thanks all for the suggestions. Yes, the wheels would be a consideration. I swear I've seen a monster made just for this purpose. Maybe PCI had them made exclusively for them. That's okay I can't find the Baby Poser from my old OMS days either.

I have a suggestion from all my years being a traveling photographer, I use to work for Olan Mills.
I have tried many ways of transporting my equipment. Large cases, carts, & many other things in 23yrs of traveling.

For your safety & your back I would strongly suggest against a cabinet as it may sound efficient & handy, think about all the steps you will have to drag it up & the possible bulk of the equipment within. By the time you get a table with a cabinet that is sturdy enough & safe it will most likely become heavy enough on its own with no equipment that steps will become difficult.

In my past I found that sometimes while more trips can be less efficient & gets old. The health of your back & safety of the child is worth those trips. In 23yrs I never once had a kid fall from either a table or a baby poser. Also never hurt myself, while I think there was a certain amount of luck there, I know many, whom have had both happen. I have many old friends that have in the name of less trips especially up or down steps ended up with back surgery, or knee surgery.

If you find such a piece of equipment I would be very interested, as would Olan, & any other company who has traveling photogs. in the 23yrs the only thing I found to cut my trips down & keep my back healthy was a sturdy cart from Kart-a-Bag they will hold up to 300lbs, & are very compact when folded. They also unlike most folding carts have skids on the back for stairs. Still for to many steps not a good idea to over load.

Good Luck Mitch
