Default Camera Shutter Life Expectancy Database

A very interesting database based on experience of individuals.

I wouldn't totally trust this, I heard about this site before. There was some talk about whether the posts were real or if people were fudging them. If I remember right, some of the people's names were kind of a giveaway as to if the post was botched or not.

^I agree with the above. I was looking through the numbers and they are all over the place. It doesn't indicate what "killed" the camera. In any case, with the 350D and the 30D, how can you accurately know how many clicks you have?

The other thing about that site is that there is no software available that will tell you how many clicks your 20D or 30D has. In order for that to be known, you have to send your camera in to Canon.

Canon doesn't embed the number of shutter releases on the body in the EXIF info? (I ask because Nikon does.)

thats correct: canon doesn't provide this number (at least with 20D,5D models, maybe Max can tune in for the complete answer)

Canon does however do it with the 1D series cameras.

I don't think the 1D3 can be counted by software like it's predecessors can, but I know for sure you would need Canon to check out the prosumer cameras.

I thought I heard that it was in the EXIF data on the 1D series.

I'd have to agree. I pulled this from the 40D section...

"18 ) Submitted by kenny
Clicks: 4,000,000
Shutter still alive: Yes"

It seems like some retard was trying to be cool/funny or is just too stupid to use a computer and select the correct option.

That number isn't total lifetime shutter releases.
