What's the best pro-level DSLR deal on the used market, currently, in your opinion, regardless of brand? Looking to buy DSLR presents for relatives with no digital camera currently. Cheers!

If they prefer Nikon, the Nikon D2H can also sometimes be had for a great deal like the Canon 1D. These two are probably the best deals for used pro bodies. The later Nikon D1 bodies- the X and the H, can also be had for great deals... but the batteries suck. I personally would not want to put the time to find the best third party battery solution for those cameras.

It depends on what they want it for. If it's mostly a studio camera, I can heartily recommend a Kodak DCS-760, which is a 6MP digicam built into a Nikon F5 body. The biggest problem, though, is the same as for the Nikon D1x - old battery technology that is bulky and several spares will be needed.
A used DCS-760 kit will run $750-900 with charger and a couple of battery packs. But these things are big honkers for carrying around in the field. |

Depends entirely on your applications. The 1D and the D2h, the D1x are all top class pro bodies but if you want the best imaging for the buck and you don't care about high ISO, then the Kodak 14n will give you the best images. In good light, the images are superb.
