Default Lamp types

I made a soft box and it actually doesn't looks bad at all, My problem is that I am using a regular ole' 10$ desk lamp that you get at target. It produces a orange tinted light like most regular bulbs do, what do you guys suggest using instead of the desk lamp?

The desk lamp is fine if you adjust your white balance to compensate. Otherwise swap out the bulb for a daylight bulb, like the GE Reveal or similar.

Most bulbs come with the color temperature right on the packaging nowadays. Get the temp that you want to shoot with. You can make a pretty decent softbox, or hotlight setup using some of the compact fluorescent bulbs now.
