Default Remote Shutter Release: homemade

On my sony I want to make a remote shutter release but there is one problem... I dont know what each pin on the board is. There are 3 pins all in a row(horizontal).

What does each pin for?

I have seen tutorials on making Remote's but they were for a Canon 40d which have a triangular pin patturn.

Any help?

Also is there anything I need to watch out for? If I do something wrong( touching wrong pins at one time) will it fry the camera?

Adorama has a wired release for $40 and a wireless for $85. Seems safer for a guy with a new camera.

If nothing else, you could reverse engineer the wired unit to extend it as needed.

Buying one would probably be best and eBay has many generic ones for Minolta/Sony (they are the same) for very little money.

But if you insist on making your own, visit this page: Minolta SLR FAQ: Tips & Tricks (#6.5)
