I haven't had to deal with Canon's service department yet. I guess that's a good thing.

I've used Canon's Service Center in Irvine CA once for a focusing issue on my 1Ds. They replaced the mirror box and cleaned it, then checked/calibrated the camera. It was not under warranty. I was satisfied with the work.
