OK...dumb question from a Yank....I've never understood A4, A3, etc. Anyone care to put them into the "Idiot's Guide to Paper Sizes" infomation bank?

A4 (and A1, A2 A3 etc) are ISO standard paper sizes in use throughout the world, apart from the US, Canada, Mexico and the Philippines. I believe the nearest to A4 in the US is Letter. There's plenty of info on the various sizes out there - my reference for most of these things is Wikipedia.

The following image is from the Wikipedia Commons free image repository, and shows the various A sizes - which all have the aspect ratio of the square root of 2.

"UNcut"?
Afaik, A4 and A3 and all the others are those sizes precisely because they ARE cut....

Thanks Paul...that helps (some...as I still have to reset my thinking from inches to mm ). But, at least now I have a better idea with the inclusion of the legal and letter overlays.
