If you factor in cropping (say to get an 8x10 print) then it gets more interesting since sometimes you have to throw away resolution depending on the native aspect ratio of the camera. And I don't recall seeing any 4x5 d-slrs.

Good point. I changed the title.

A lot of folks do seem to be buying the 5D judging from all the sample pics I've seen recently and apparently the d200 is seriously back-ordered already.

I made my own chart a long time ago in Excel. Sounds crazy, but I used it so I didn't have to do my own math for the ratios. I put in the print sizes, and then listed the ratios (like 0.75 or 0.6666). I put in typical camera pic sizes to from my cameras, so I would know how much would be cropped, wihtout really cropping and looking.

The D200 ought to be back-ordered by the way. It looks to be a good one...

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-R1 (10.3 megapixels; http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/sonydscr1/) is a really interesting camera too, imo. Seems almost ideal for wedding and portrait photographers.
