another question - would you take the "real" camera, tripod and stuff or just the P&S?
Real stuff is Nikon D70, etc.. Would appreciate your perspective as a photographer.
Thanks

When I go again I'm taking it all RSS Ball head included.....my only decision would be whether to bring my big Gitzo, or my small Bogen/Manfrotto - which is what I'm taking on a train trip for Thanksgiving - but of course for any "serious" photos a sturdy tripod is a must.

I'm insured, so I wouldn't worry (too much) about theft or damage. The dust/heat/humidity/rain are a different consideration..... when I finish a day of shooting I always thoroughly clean any gear used.
