Default New to manual mode, confused about settings?

Well, here's the answer: http://www.photonhead.com/simcam/

The SimCam lets you simulate aperture and shutter speeds, simulate ISO speeds (or ASA if you shoot analog) and what happens when shooting with a tele lense (camera shake).

Hands-on tutorials I'd say.

Enjoy!

I experimented a lot until I got a library of settings I liked. With digital and EXIF data it makes it much easier, if your shooting film keep a log then look at your results.

Bottom line it takes practice and you'll eventually the settting you want will become second nature. Built in metering is great for the "average" photograph but when it comes to special situations or I'm want a certain effect I'll switch back to manual or go to one of the priority modes.
