Poll: topic rating system? - PhotoCamel

It's likely that we can institute a topic/thread rating system whereby each member of the forum could rate the quality of topics using a star-based system. Would also allow sorting of threads by rating, if desired. Yeah/no way?

I feel just about the same as I feel about the Karma Corn idea. I don't think it is a good idea as a global feature. Some people will get a lot of points and a lot won't get any or very few. And it won't be for any other reason than some people give them out like candy rather than for the purpose the feature is intended for.

Now if it was for one forum, like for picking the picture of the week or critics pick or something like that, maybe. By limiting it to one forum then people would be more likely to use it as it's intended.

meh....I usually find the less active topics more interesting half the time anyway

I can certainly see where Mike's points are valid, as well.

I don't really care one way or another. What I'd like to see is a rating based on activity, something like number of reponses or number of reads of a given topic, possilbly added to the Info Centre on the main page showing the top 5 or 10 topics.

Also is there any way of showing when new polls are posted other then showing unread since last visit. Maybe it could be added to the Info Centre, or perhaps something added to the search form where a user could speicfy pools?

Just a couple of thought.

Yeah, and I think sites that allow users to rate topics end up prejudicing viewers about which topics are "good," which may not give the other topics the credit they deserve.

Better promote rating in the galleries imo
