Can anyone relay their experiences purchasing used camera equipment at places OTHER than eBay? Is the bay the only place to go these days, or should one also look elsewhere, and if so, why?

www.photogon.com is an interesting place to buy and sell photo equipment.
KEH is good. I've never personally used them, but have had friends that have and they were pleased with the service and selection. |

I have gotten a lot of stuff from KEH, and so have a few of my friends. They are really good to deal with, and their own rating system is a bit on the buyers side. I have seen a "bargain" lens, with nothing at all bad to speak of. I got my Canon Flash unit from them. It was an Excellent-, and not a mark on it that I saw.
I know Adorama and B&H have some used stuff, and they are good retailers, but KEH is the jackpot of equipment to me. If your looking for say Canon lenses, look in the "film" lens section, as in the digital one, all you will see are the EF-S ones... |

I have gotten a few things off of fredmiranda.com and have sold one item. Things seem to go pretty fast on that site and everyone seems friendly and trust worthy. Haven't experienced anything else besides ebay. Hope to find other places for a more variety.

Honestly I've only used Miranda in order to post links to things I'm selling on eBay. Somehow I feel safter with eBay purchases.

Almost exclusively FredMirandal.com for used equipment (buy and sell), but have also purchased from RobGalbraith.com.
Years ago I bought on ebay. Never had a problem, but have drifted away from it. More "community" feel on FM.com. John |
