Interesting read, and it shows just how good the Fuji F30 is at high iso. Pretty incredible for a small sensor point-and-shoot.

Actually the Fuji pays a MASSIVE price for "clean" high ISO shots....Image Quality, or more specifically, the LOSS of image detail....

Come on guys, don't be fooled...so you see, it's not "incredible" LatinBob...

actually it is. the lowly F30 compared to the mighty D30 and doesn't do a bad job. the proof is there for all to see. you are now telling us our eyes are lying?

i take it you never read the car and driver 350hp report? the compared a corvertte and a f150 lightning.

I thought the F10/F11 had much better detail, the F30 just smears the noise out with it's built-in software. Even so, a good showing for the Super-CCD.

Raise your standards friend...the Fuji SMEARS the pixels to get "clean" images....bye-bye noise, but also bye-bye image detail...Hello Plastic Look Baby! lol

And neither the Corvette or F150 Lighting impress me...any idiot (GM/Chrysler/Ford) can put a big fat V8 into a small or light vehicle....They guzzle gas, ruin the environment, and at the end of the day do more for middle aged men's inner Jr. High School boy then anything else....so no I don't waste my precious time on earth reading car magazines...lol

The Japanese are impressive...they can put a small motor into a car and crank big big power....but now we digress.....lol

I think the point to the original post was to raise standards... for smaller sensor cameras. Of course the 30D image is better. It better be coming from such a large sensor. The Fuji does a better job than all the other compacts, and is closer to the D30 shot on those terms.

There are times when I don't want to carry my dSLR and it would be nice to have a pocket camera that did a decent job at high iso. Better than a dSLR? No way. Better than all the others? The Fuji sure looks that way to me. And I just got new glasses too, so I doubt my eyes are lying.
