Default Tamron 200-500 or sigma 50-500

What do you guys think would be my better choice, the tamron is about 200usd cheaper than the sigma-----which one would you rather have?---this is a welcome spring present to myself and will be used for airshows, wildlife etc...

Based solely on internet hype, I'd go with the Bigma.

Bigma seems to be well regarded from what I've read (not used one). Having that more useful 50mm at the widest end could be a deciding factor, though you need to also consider weight savings and relative aptertures.

In the 2 years since this thread was originally posted, sigma has released an OS version of the bigma. And canon just announced a 200-400 TC, which will probably cost as much as a small new car.

The birding section of the forum might be able to enlighten you further.
